3Radios must have been a hot item in 1940, for by the end of the model year, Studebaker was out of the AC-910 radios.  After September 5th, 1940 a substitute radio was offered for 1940 Champions. This was discussed in Parts Department Letter No. 587.
4Studebaker sold them to dealers for $12 and suggested dealers sell then for between $19.45 and $21.45, or use them for prizes, bonuses or sales enticements.   Studebaker itself actually offered them as prizes for various contents.

1Most prices are from the fall of 1940.  The prices of some accessories were raised later in the model year

2The standard leather colors available for Custom and Custom Deluxe models were dark green, dark blue, light tan, black, and maroon.  Two-tone colors available for Delux-tone models were light and dark green, dark blue and light gray, and maroon and light tan.  Prices do not include mid-year Double-Dater models.

4Introduced as a delete option (you got it unless you requested not to have it) shortly after production started, it was applied to all colors except Velvet Black and Tulip Cream.

5AC-1153 & AC-1154 were often sold together as AC-1152 for $10.  Besides the 1941 Champion individual accessories listed in this chart, Studebaker marketed “Accessory Groups” that lumped several accessories together.  These groups provided small saving over the individual prices.

Unless otherwise specified, AC-1256 fender lamps, AC-723 wheel trim rings and AC-1348 rear fender pebble deflectors were installed at the factory on all models assembled in South Bend.   Quite a few Skyway Champions were “specified” without the AC-1256 fender lamps.

Undercoating:  Studebaker released it's undercoating product they called "Knocks-Sound" (AC-1642) in March 1948.  It came in 500 pound 53 gallon drums.  It was sold to dealers by the Studebaker Parts and Accessories Division for application at the dealers.  Prior to this time Studebaker had recommended either Fendix by Davison Chemical Corp. or Rubberized Undersealer by 3M.

1 Standard on President Classic  2 Wire spoke overlays (AC-2780) for these wheelcovers were scheduled to be a 1956 accessory, but none were ever sold.  They do show up in some early factory photos.  3 The older AC-2302 rear seat speaker was also listed as a 1956 accessory.  4 Dealer installation on standard shift models required AC-2334 switch without power steering and AC-2444 switch with power steering.  5 Color keyed seat belts were available for dealer installation.  Each color had a different part number.  Factory installed belts were black (at least on early production).  6 Two of these could be used in the back seat of sedans.  7 This 1953-55 mirror was carried into 1956, but most 1956 cars were fitted with the Super-Vue mirror.
