Studebaker had been occupied with the design and release of the Champion, so almost no changes were made to this model year. The front end again received minor styling changes and the headlights are now sealed beam, the hood latches from the inside of the car, and the windshield area is increased for better visibility. The transmission is again redesigned, this time in the shifting mechanism.
However while little is done with the sheet metal, there would be a new trim level called the Delux-tone treatment now available across the entire product lineup.
| When data was available from Turning Wheels (TW) or Studebaker the Complete Story (STCS), it is used. Else, The Classic Car Database (TCCD) & The Standard Catalog of American Cars (SCAC) is used. →Information between the arrows is from “This is a Studebaker Year – Vol. 3 W.A. Cannon← What we can be fairly sure of is that the same body styles, depending on the source, were sometimes listed in different terms. SB=South Bend, LA=Los Angles, and CAN=Canada |

| →The 1940 6C Series President started production in August 1939. It finished production in August of 1940. Studebaker assigned 7,600 SB serial numbers and 800 LA serial numbers to the 6C series. Engine Serial Numbers, B-38,501 to B-45,000. Most of the data in the chart is from “This is a Studebaker Year – Vol. 3”.← 6C series serial numbers would suggest production of 6,600 cars. Both TCCD & SCAC reported 6,444. The prices for series 6C cars come from TCCD & SCAC were both agreed. While Cannon lists five Club Sedans, five Cruising Sedans, and four Coupes, both TCCD and SCAC only listed one each Club, Cruising, and Coupe in Delux-tone trim and without Delux-tone trim. As we do not know the exact differences in the Body Codes for each body type we have placed the pricing in the first non-Delux-tone and the first Delux-tone. | ||||
